Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Make Our World Go 'Round!

Volunteers are one of our most important assets. Without them, the society could not offer all the programs that are so important to our community and our mission. Volunteers can spend as much time as they like helping the organization in a wide variety of ways. A few examples of volunteer work are: mansion hosts, working with our archival collections, assisting with events and fundraising, gardening, participating in decorating for Christmas at the Seiberling, and cleaning the mansion or Elliott House. The list is actually endless!

Mansion Hosts

These ambassadors greet guests, collect admission, answer questions, and introduce and share the fascinating history of Howard County and Kokomo. If you enjoy meeting interesting people, would like to assist visitors and share our history, this is for you! Can't memorize a script? No need! Our hosts welcome guests, give a short explanation/history, then send visitors on their way to explore the mansion on their own. Volunteer shifts can be any day Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

Events, events, events!!

Help us organize and present events like Christmas at the Seiberling, the Hall of Legends, Mr. Kingston's Auto Exhibition, and the Annual Meeting just to name a few. We can always use help with event planning, fundraising, and execution. Can't commit to a large event? We also utilize volunteers during outreach events such as the Strawberry Festival or Juneteenth Celebration.
